SOME THINGS OUR customers SAY
Was a bit worried about the packing part but all the bits arrived in the post and all I had to do was tape up the box and take it to the post office. I think they can arrange for royal mail to collect the package from the house free of charge.
Excellent result, easy enough, spent the money on an evening out with the better half.
Took a few pics and they loaded on the form easily, thought it was going to be difficult but it wasnt hard to do, got an offer which was great.
To be fair I thought the 6 watches I had were not worth anything so I was happy with a few quid for nothing really.
Nearly binned them, glad I didnt. Easy enough, cheers again.
Sekonda and Timex, just had the watches without straps, still sold them and happy with a few quid for them.
I was going to send them off to another company but I thought, what if I don't like the offer, it's too late, they have the watches, how do I get them back, I'll end up just saying yes to a low offer. So this way is much better, offer first then send them.
I was left a few watches and pocket watches from an old uncle, non of them seemed to work, a bit of ticking from one or two maybe, anyway, got rid of them for cash so happy days, they nearly went in the skip.
Simple deal, maybe I could have got a bit more if I listed them on ebay but it just wasn't worth the hassle and the risk of returns, and this was guaranteed money in the bank.
Never really put any of them on my wrist, they were just gathering dust so... Nice one, thanks, all sorted
Did a bit of research, they might go for a bit more on ebay but I recon you have to wait ages to sell them to sell then with the fees and postage you might not even get more than these guys, happy with the deal. Cheers.
Great deal, thought the offer was a bit low at first but when you realise these are not exactly collectors items and are in a bit a state, it was a very fair price.
Basically, for me, it's cash for scrap. Happy With the deal. Many thanks guys.
Helped with a house clearance and literally found a load of old watches in a drawer, told the homeowner to sell them here and they gave me half the money as a treat. Mint.
Best deal and I tried a few others, didnt really want to send them first and be under the cosh so this suited me.
Posted them out and got the money straight away.
I had to take out the quartz watches and got rid of the wind up ones for cash but very happy to see them gone for cash, don't think any of the watches worked but still got money for them.
Factors Influencing the Value of Non High End Watches:
Condition of the watch: The watches we buy are often 30 to 70 years years old. These Vintage watches are rarely found in Mint condition. It is a good start if they are ticking, most are not working at all because they have not been serviced. Why... because the cost of a service is far more than the value of the watch.
For example a fully restored excellent condition Timex, Ingersoll, Sekonda, Ruhla, Services, Seiko, Smiths etc from mid 1900's might sell at retail for around £50 but the expert service could cost well over £100 and this is why so many people sell their unused, un-serviced old watches to us.
High Calibre Movements: Certain makes of mechanical (hand-wind) or automatic vintage movements have more value than others.
A Swiss movement, with 25 jewels could be a collectors choice however, these movements require expert skills and tools to service, regulate, repair and restore.
Availability of Parts: The older the watch, the harder it is to get the parts. A lot of watches are bought and sold purely for the parts they can provide, sometimes it can take the parts from 2 or 3 watches to restore one good one.
If you have a watch worth hundreds or thousands of pounds it is worth having it regularly serviced every 5 or 6 years. this will reduce internal friction and wear from dried lubricants and help the watch run more accurately.
